Series Ee Savings Bond Value EE Savings Bonds Above Face Value?

EE savings bonds above face value? - series ee savings bond value

I have some Series EE savings bonds (face $ 50 / $ 25 Edition) I have over ten years. They mature by the year 2020. Some of them have a market value of more than the face value (between $ 55 - $ 65). If you buy at the store, I get the face or market value? How can the market value, except for the bank?

You will receive the value www.usbonds.gov than indicated. You just put the serial number and tell you what to do for them.

I think you are confusing the market and face value. The nominal value will always be what the bond will be worth at maturity. EE bonds couples on average 15 years after the purchase. However, acquiring more interest for 30 years. When you reach 30 years that the bond will grow in value. Check the value of your obligation http://www.savingsbonds.gov/indiv/tools/tools_savingsbondcalc.htm
The value that the banks pay is mandated by the government. ONL banks are acting as intermediaries for the government. They deserve nothing about the matter.

I am sure you will get $ 55 - $ 65 because it is the interest income.

I sold my EE bonds to a bank once, and interest rates extremely low, because they have sold prior to maturity.

The bonds may be on the open market prior to maturity will be sold at market value, but may consider selling too small to win.
